In renovating our 1950s kitchens at Mint + Sea Cottages, we pulled up the laminate floors and found the original beautiful 50's hardwood floors underneath.
We were able to sand down and restore one of the kitchen floors whereas the other one, we had to find matching wood to restore.
We also wanted to keep the tile countertops from the era while updating some of the colors and modern functionality.
For one of the kitchens, we updated the tile from pink to MINT (both popular colors in the 50s) and the other one we kept the BLUE (aka sea color).
We decided to go with inset cabinets and vintage style appliances. For the cabinet hardware, it was important to find something that carried over that vintage look with high quality standards.
We were thrilled when we found Nostalgic Warehouse! It was founded in 1980 by an antique store owner … which it's no wonder we love their vintage styles!
They are the leading supplier of vintage hardware and know for elegant vintage styles and incredible craftsmanship.
When our products arrived we were amazed at the heavy weight of the pieces which display the incredible quality!
For our cabinet knobs we went with the Deco Brass Cabinet Knobs in Antique Brass. They are absolutely STUNNING!
These knobs are inspired by the Art Deco trends of the 1920s and 30s which matched our style as much of the Art Deco trends carried into the 50s (and we also incorporated some Art Deco lighting in the kitchen).
The knobs are both sleek and classy and look stunning in our kitchens! The quality is also incredible as they are a very heavy weight.
Cup Pull Farm in Antique Brass which matched perfectly with the knobs and are absolute beautiful! We love how they turned out!
What do you think? We are absolutely in love with all things at Nostalgic Warehouse!
